The pompeybug link now has this post;

Open Meeting

by Jon Spencer, on July 10th, 2013

The next PCF open meeting will take place at 7pm on Thursday 11th July at the Stacey Centre. A late breaking addition to the agenda of the meeting is that Julian Clarke of Transport Planning Associates will be coming to brief on the proposed development of a new Tesco Store on Fratton Way and the options for rerouting the shared use pedestrian and cycle route (Milton Lane) that runs across the proposed site and past Fratton Park.

Agenda
1.Fratton Way Tesco proposal
2.Open Street Map
3.Sustrans update
4.Local infrastructure report
5.AOB

Please do come along – this is a great opportunity to express the cyclists point of view of the plans for an important new development in the city.

The Stacey Centre is located on Walsall Road in Copnor – you can find a map here.

I attended last night's forum; unfortunately Portsmouth City Council were unable to attend, they sent their apologies at around 16:30

Agenda

1. Proposed Tesco Development at Fratton Way, the impact of this development on Milton Lane shared cycle/footpath was discussed.
The developers had two alternative routes.
Option A would pass behind a new petrol station whereas Option B would be shorter & cross in front of the new petrol station. PCF voted 9:2 in favour of Option A
The treatment surface of any new route was discussed & although a coloured surface would be used it would not be laid in strips which appears to be the preferred method of Portsmouth City Council/Colas. As no one PCC was there I was unable to ascertain whether they would continue to use coloured surface treatments in future.

2. Openstreet Map; this was discussed but due to slow broadband speed we did not have a live demonstration; that will be held over to future PCF meetings. Openstreet Map.org allows users to update the source map with information, including cycle routes.

3. Roger Inkpen gave us an update of sustrans cycle routes in our area, National Cycle Network routes 2, 22, 222 signs are being put in place. You can visit sustrans.org using this link

4. Local development; Northern Road Bridge was initially intended to have a new 4m wide shared cycle/footpath on it's western side once the works are completed, this will now only be 3m wide.
Cosham one-way traffic system will remain in place but will likely have 2-way cycle paths after lobbying by PCF.
Tipner development was discussed and although not confirmed by PCC members of PCF are aware that PCC are keen for the Tipner development to include a new bus/cycle/footbridge.

5. Date of next meeting will either be 5th or 12th September 2013, possibly at Portsmouth Uni, in order to make use of the WiFi but location & date will be confirmed on the PCF website PompeyBUG
