2013 Youth & Junior Coaching Sessions @ Mountbatten Centre. Mid-day until 2pm Saturdays: January 5th; February 2nd; and March 2nd. £1 per rider to contribute towards the track hire. The challenge is this......each rider to bring a cycling buddy, and can be MTB or BMX if that's what they got for Christmas, as Paul Martin will also be delivering some British Cycling Skills sessions from Gears 1-4. So put the date in your diary, calendar, or on the fridge...just remember to come along for 2 hours of fun! alien

I'll be there on the 5th of Jan, after a chain gang ride again hopefully, as that nice FL people have arranged to move Pompey's game to the 4th, just so I can attend Smile

I just need to speak to them to do something about the 2nd of Feb & I'll be sorted.

When's the fat, slow boys training sessions Coach? Now i'm a trophy winning tester I've got a reputation to keep.

After Xmas dinner so it's more inclusive would be my suggestion - everyone will be fat and slow!

Sorry, thought I'd been demoted for bad behaviour.

Very Happy Ok we'll take one month at a time. All ages are welcome to attend Jan 5th ( including slow twitch time-trialers) we can do sessions for all and Paul can arrange sessions for Jan & Feb. so come along with Christmas bellies, and all you turkeys? I'll have some sessions for 'all' no worries. alien

Hi Dave,

I am getting back in the saddle after a long time out, although not lacking fitness, and am looking at getting into coaching. I've reviewed the BC website and might look for a date later this year to undertake my level 2. Any advice?????

Very Happy Hi Mark, Rob Allen is our next candidate to commence coaching on the February BC L2CCC course. We don't have any plans at present for any more to assist with funding for this year, as we'll then have hopefully by the end of the year x1 BC Level 3RTT, x2 BC Level 2 (Paul and Rob)and a ABCC Coach in Harry at Calshot. The Committee agreed to fund 50% of coaching fees, with the remainder funded by the individual of from outside agencies.

Smile The Coaching Development plan that the club has adopted, does need to allow for coaches leaving - although part of the agreement of any funding is a return of service to the club - and will continue to commit to coach training & mentoring in 2014.

Question So where does that leave you? If you are committed to coaching, there are perhaps two avenues:
a) volunteer with the club and then come into the coaching programme, assisting present coaches, looking forward to 2014.
b) commit to becoming a BC coach using your own funding (as I started) and apply for funding from outside sources - can offer a couple of suggestions.

More than happy to discus with you one evening at the club, where I can expand further. alien

Dave,

Thank you for the help, with regards to funding I am more than happy to self fund as I will get some contribution off the Royal Marines. I would love to start coming down to the track and observe, learn and develop so which days are best??

I do have a commitment at present till April with Hampshire CC as I am a DofE Expedition Leader and have a few groups going through for their awards. So I can fit around that.

TY
