The course will be checked immediately before signing on opens tonight. Any last-minute changes will be advised at the signing on point. Notwithstanding that the following caveats are brought to all riders’ attention:

Riders should consider not adopting the 'tri' position eastbound descending through North Boarhunt village past the former filling station due to a number of raised and uneven manhole covers. Riders are also reminded of a significant bump in the road eastbound on the Southwick bypass as the road crosses the Wallington Stream. Consequently riders should use very light wheels and/or tyres only if they are satisfied that they can be ridden without sustaining damage.

The descent on the loop should be traversed with extreme caution, as should the hard left turn back onto the Southwick by-pass. The road surface has no major defects but there may be some debris comprised of twigs, fallen leaves etc to be aware of.

As with all races, riders are advised to ride with flashing front and rear lights and that the wearing of a hard shell helmet, whilst not mandatory for riders 18 years old or older, is strongly recommended.

Don't forget that the first rider starts at 1900 and that competitors need to allow themselves at least 10 minutes to ride from the signing on point behind Wickham Community Centre to the start line at Wickham Common.

Additional notes:

Due to surface water, it may be decided to omit the loop and shorten the course to 6 miles i.e. Southwick RAB and back without turning off at Staple Cross. This decision will be made at 1800 and riders will be informed when signing on.

As the race is a two-up team time trial the following rider in each team is advised to take extra care to anticipate the need to slow down at any point, to be ready to reach for their brakes and not to ride into the back of their leading team-mate.
