PNECC Roadman's League 2012

Here is the table after two qualifying events:

No rider rode both events on an road bike hence two 20s, two 19s etc. Check out the events list on the PNECC website. All PNE events plus all Portsdown Time Trial Series events qualify for points, including the HRC "total b*****d" 22 mile tt on Sunday.

All we need now is some crazy to do a PNE TT on a c1946 Grubb fixed? Will have to check my gear inches (52 x16 at the moment). P829 looks interesting? Will have to start a 'Hardman's League'

I'm crazy - at least my wordpress and youtube usernames suggest so...

If I ride my bike without aero bars but still have deep section rims would I qualify for points in the roadmans league? Or do the wheels have to tossed in the bin......may as well do that anyway plenty of people still beat me last Sunday,

You can ride on disc wheels if you like! The point of the roadman's league is to encourage PNE members to ride time trials without the need to buy specialist tribars. This means that roadmen and roadwomen will ride their road bikes adopting a road position. The harder the course, the better it is for a bog standard road bike. The league is a competition within a competition, in that whilst your rides qualify towards the club's overall season-long time trial points trophy (traditionally dominated by quality specialist PNE time trialists), the league rewards you for only having a roadbike.

Now come on guys, the HRC event on Sunday is a complete bitch. We 'North Enders' have always been attracted to the toughest courses and South Harting is literally 'up there' with the best climbs in the south (which is why the Tour de France went up it in '94). These are the roads we ride on Sundays. Now's the time to up the pace!

Thanks Mark. I don't mind if people don't want to race at all, I just don't want people put off by all the kit dedicated 'testers' use. Time trialing is a good way into the competitive side of cycle racing without the level of fitness and commitment that is needed to be good road or circuit racer with a BC licence. The obvious compromise is our PNE Roadman's League, to ride time trials as if you were off the front (or back) in a road race, on a road bike. Who knows? Imagine beating a low pro....!
