I have traversed the entire course today and consider it fit for purpose with the following caveat:

Riders should consider not adopting the 'tri' position eastbound descending through North Boarhunt village past the former filling station due to a number of raised and uneven manhole covers. Riders are also reminded of a significant bump in the road eastbound on the Southwick bypass as the road crosses the Wallington Stream. Consequently riders should use very light wheels and/or tyres only if they are satisfied that they can be ridden without sustaining damage.

As with all races, riders are advised to ride with flashing front and rear lights and that the wearing of a hard shell helmet, whilst not mandatory for riders 18 years old or older, is strongly recommended.

Don't forget that the first rider starts at 1845 and that competitors need to allow themselves at least 10 minutes to ride from the signing on point at Wickham Community Centre to the start line at Wickham Common.

Just a bit but unless it's actually raining it is unlikely to be called off. Final assessment will be nearer to 6pm (and is not my shout). If I hear earlier that it has been cancelled I will immediately post here.

Don't you ever have a rest day?

Have 3 enforced rest days preceding the science research I'm participating in...that should do me for the year, no?

p.s. on the topic of tonight's time trial - any wetter and I'd have drowned!

Well Southwick Hill Road on Strava from roundabout to roundabout (1.7 miles 2.8% average gradient 258ft elevation gain) has a new fastest time of 6 minutes 13 seconds - 16.7mph average. Steve is languishing in second 26 seconds adrift with Andy in 6th and James in 10th - so 4 PNE riders in the top 10 from 78 entrants.
