Carbon forks

Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone can help. Looking to get some carbon forks for my bike but not a clue what size steerer tube I need, I think they come in 1" and 1 1/8" sizes. It's a giant defy 4 with overdrive steerer.
Also when I manage to get one can anyone tell me where I can get a spray job done, still want it to match the frame.

take the top cap off your steerer (ontop of your stem) and measure the diameter

carbon forks come with aluminium steerer tubes or carbon ones. also different rake angles which can dramatically affect the feel and handling of a bike.

all things to take into consideration when swapping in/out forks

If I remember your's is the 2011 version triple. Which has no info I can see & I have looked at the online brochure with no luck.
I feel Marks suggestion is the best, take the cap off & measure.

did you get any joy with halfords and the 105?

I dont know if it is of any interest but i have a mate who is selling a Principia with ultegra throughout & mavic wheels. Very good condition pearlescent white, although its on a 58 C-T frame. It may be a little big for you but perhaps something to consider? He wants £500 for it. I sourced the bike for him in the first place and it is worth every penny. food for thought perhaps?

I've checked the price with halfords, the manger of the bike bit is happy to do it for me but my other half had a word and I have to wait a few weeks until the wedding budget is sorted, not going to be a problem but she worries. My frame atm is 50, just worried that might be too big but I'll have a try of a larger frame and let you know, cheers for letting me know.

Had the cap off and my measurement makes it little over an inch. I've adjusted the angle of the bars too on your advice rich and it makes a big difference for comfort and no aching hands either

on this topic anyone got any tips how i can get out a stuck headset in the carbon forks,tryed leaving wd40 in for a few days and light hits with hammer

bit of clarity needed? headset stuck onto fork steerer or steerer stuck in the headtube? What is the steerer made of (carbon or alu)? When did you last have it seperate?

I'm not sure I'd soak carbon fibre in WD40 for any length of time. Are you trying to replace the whole headset? You need specialist tools for that job - which I happen to have. Unless you know exactly what you are doing I'd give the job to someone else Jack

Next silly question.
Being that I can't cycle for the next month or so, I tried again today and still makes me yelp, I'm going to potter with my bike. Taking rich walkers advice I'm going to trim some fat from the bike with seatpost handlebars and fork, groupset after the wedding.

Has anyone got any idea what diameter seat post I'll need for a 2010 defy 4? Grid measuring but tape measure not precise enough. I've looked on google and can't find anything.
