I've always been a slave to 3-in-1 oil but the world has moved on. I'm interested to know what other people use to keep their chains free of muck, rain and rust and which, hopefully, doesn't wash off in the first puddle. Over to you guys.

Hi Paul,

I use TF2+ Dry lube(see link) it's does not attract the dirt, and does not wash off that easy in the wet, little more expensive than good old 3 in 1 and a bottle roughing lasts about the same time. Depending on how often you clean and lube your chain of course.

Hope this help's mate Very Happy

Very Happy Teflon lubricant spray - as little as possible, keep a can in the bike shed and will always give it a quick spray if the bikes been out in the wet. Seems to do the trick. bounce

Here's a little known fact, WD40 is called this because the scientist who developed it came up with the final formula on attempt #40, the WD stands for Water Dispersment. And just before xmas a cycling mag did a review of about 10 oils & sprays & it came out level top with two others for working best overall. There were others that worked best in pure wet or pure dry but best generally this was one of 3.

On another thread Jon G mentioned something about not being able to use his turbot while his hand is in plaster. So perhaps you need two hands to rub a fish on your bicycle?
