sunny Firstly thank you all who donated to the 'Jacket fund' I am very grateful and purchased another jacket from Paul. The 'patched-up' old one is now the 'ride-to-work & fly the PNE flag' jacket. Many thanks for your generosity and thoughts.

Very Happy It's 6 weeks since the op and all is settling down fine. Still numb but that could take months. Have been 'allowed' now to 'poodle about on a bike if you must' (consultants words) so have been out a couple of lunchtimes, nice and easy.

affraid The first right-hander it was amazing how hard you can push down on the opposite pedal when cornering..........if you witnessed my crash you'd understand. A few more corners and I felt a little more confident. bounce

sunny All my bikes now will always have a bit of titanium on them but I have a new bike - planet-x blue carbon campagnolo 10-speed - and can't believe how comfy the ride is...lunchtimes just aren't long enough! lol!

pirat It will still be a while until I'm up to speed again but would like to catch the PNE TTs June and later with a few sportives from then on too. Watch this space! Basketball

Very Happy Today the start of a new month so decided to mark it with my first 2hr ride since the 'bump' 8 weeks ago.
Suspect Didn't want any company in-case things didn't work out but that wasn't an issue.
cat Decided on a run out from purbrook heath, hambledon, clanfield, climb up to Mercury past Hyden woods cross-roads, down from teglease along 'sheep fields', through soberton, newtown and back to chair-makers to return the way I started in purbrook heath. There was the small matter of 'negotiating' the denmead double min-roundabout?
Things went well, me, bike and weather. Climbing was ok and out from clanfield showed how my legs have missed the hills!!affraid

The roads haven't improved I noticed? silent

What a Face The time to 'do' Denmead arrived and passed without any problem - so have now put that to bed.bounce

2hrs 4mins just under 34mls nice and easy avge 16.2 so I think that's it. From now on it's only up! Ha ha! Laughing

bounce Can't agree more. Have and still am so impressed. When talkingabout it with Paul, the geometry is brilliant, so comfortable and smooth, but responsive when you stand on the pedals. Had no aches or numbness, I need to fiddle with saddle level but can only sing their praises. i even hear my jockey wheels, the rides so quiet! affraid

Jockey wheels? Never heard 'em called that before. confused Looked up the phrase in a medical dictionary as only so many body parts come in pairs but to no avail.

Glad to hear you've ventured out Dave. Also glad to know that you are getting the full PX experience, geometry and all! bounce

Time trialling again bounce

Many thanks, all the PNE team out last night to put on the time trial once again. On a very dour evening we were fortunate to avoid any showers (although road remained wet) and get ten riders away on the 16km circuit sunny

affraid On a personal note to say I was nervous was an understatement (it's one thing training but definitely another when you're "going for it" in a TT). affraid

I started off ok and built up some cadence and things went ok. I must admit I 'bottled-it' on the roundabout at Southwick and was very apprehensive on the turns, with the Portchester lane loop even causing me to brake prior to approaching some gravel. This is where Nick passed me Shocked no suprise really Very Happy Back onto the main road was fine and then all the way to the finish I was just pleased to have not come off. clown

Suspect First time I'd ridden the disc wheel in a TT and that went well, also a first for wearing a faired helmet which was different? Suspect

bounce Very happy and looking forward to incresing my confidence on the next one : afro
