The Ruby Ride 15th September 2013

Our first Ruby Ride last year was a great success and raised over £63,500 for the Hospice. Our ride is back this year, sponsored by Wiggle www.wiggle.co.uk and promises to be just as exciting as last years event. All routes will start and finish at Lakeside North Harbour where there is plenty of parking and refreshments for all. First aid and bike mechanic support is available throughout the day.
Come and join us for our cycle challenge; there are 3 great routes to choose from:
LEISURE: Offering a great family day out, our Leisure ride loops all the way around Portsmouth from Lakeside, down to Southsea seafront, back up the Eastern Road and then returns to Lakeside along the Havant Road in Cosham. This is a great route to choose if you are cycling with children or are getting back on your bike for the first time in a while. Most of the cycling on this route will be on cycle paths however does require some on road cycling. (18 miles approx.)
CHALLENGE: This more challenging route does the same as the Leisure but takes in some challenging hills too. At the Farlington Marshes checkpoint, this route bears right along Broadmarsh to Bedhampton, up over the hill, past the Bowlplex along to Southdowns College before arriving at checkpoint at the Hospice. Cyclists travel back to Lakeside via the challenging Widley Walk and down through Portchester. (30 miles approx.)
EPIC: The toughest of our challenges; this ride does the same as the Challenge, however at The Hospice splits off from the Challenge cyclists and travels through the countryside to Petersfield. Taking in the stunning scenery and some challenging hill climbs, the cyclists return to Lakeside via Wickham and Portchester. (65 miles appox.)
Our checkpoints: Clarence Pier, Eastney Baths, Farlington Marshes, The Rowans Hospice, Churchillian Pub, The Red Lion in Petersifeld and Greens in Wickham.
Entry Fees: £20 for Adults (16 and over), £10 for children (aged 5-15) and children on their guardian's bikes are free. You can register on the day for £30 Adults (16 and over), £15 for children (aged 5-15)
On the day, registration will be open from 8:45am to 10:15am. The routes will have a staggered start time with the Epic route leaving at 9:30am, Challenge at 10am and the Leisure at 10:30am.
