Now the weather is starting to get better (sort of Rolling Eyes ) I would like to try and get all you closet mountain bikers out for regular rides.

A few of you said you would be up for in my previous thread so what does everyone think?

I'll start by suggesting maybe one Saturday a month we go out for a 20-30 mile XC loop somewhere?

I say Saturday so it wouldn't interfere with the club road ride on Sunday but others may prefer just doing a bit of off road riding instead of the normal club ride once a month.

If enough people say they are interested I'd like to test the water with a short loop around Kingley Vale some time - big climbs, epic views, fast descents but not technical if you don't want it to be. I know a nice 10ish mile loop.

Let me know what you think. I'm happy to put a bit of work in coming up with routes and organising rides if that's what it needs to get people out.

Sounds good, I'll give it a go if it doesn't clash with racing, power climbs are good training Smile

i rode KV last w/end, the swamp at the bottom needs mud x's or similar cos its still real boggy. the jump and berms section has grown into biggy boys stuff over the last couple of months so u might not want to scare closet mountain bikers off on your first trip. Laughing

I'd be more worried about scaring/scarring myself! There are plenty of nice routes around that area without going over all the airbourne stuff.

Good to see a few up for this, any more??

Saturday 9th March.

Kingley Val - I vaguely know my way around but anyone else who knows a nice ride can lead or we can just do the red route at QE Country Park.

Weather dependent of course - no point going for a muddy walk.

I will be up for it in the future. I am out of the country that week.

Re: tomorrows ride.
Weather is poor and looks like more of the same tomorrow so im going to avoid the swamplike conditions and stick to the road bike this weekend.
Hopefully we will get out on a decent day soon.

I was out around Holmbury St Mary this morning - tracks were quite dry and some cracking trails and knarly down hill single track but blimey it was cold.

Tuesday will be riding from the West Meon Hut pedalling off at 6.30pm all welcome to join me - weather will have to be truly awful to cancel but text /call me on 0780 1964 820 if in doubt. We have some good spare lights to lend if you have none and we can also lend a bike or two. We stick together and ride to the groups minimum ability.

Hi Mike, I might be up for tomorrow night, I am driving home from Aberdeen tomorrow though so it will depend on what time i get back. Would probably need to borrow lights as mine are no more than 'be seen' lights.

Alan (and everyone else): are you up for Saturday morning?

Could well be up for Saturday morning ! I might even be able to drag a non member in on it.

Well Ben joined us last night for what unfortunately was one of our most disjointed rides for ages so I hope he enjoyed it and comes back. We are very relaxed about most things and stick together as a group on the trails. We now have 2 spare sets of off road headlights. Subject to confirmation next Tuesday we will be riding away at 6.30 pm from the Fox Goes Free at Chalton near West Dean. Text or pm me to confirm details. Lateness will result in finding an empty car park and / or abuse!!! Twisted Evil (Ben was forgiven when we found out he had driven all the way back from Aberdeen trying to get to us in time, mental effort)

Ben, I cant commit to this Saturday at the moment, but will let you know closer to the time.

Don't worry Alan, just let me know by Friday night, hopefully have a couple of people up for it. Mike said he was also a possible but would let me know on Friday.

Mike: cheers for letting me tag along, was nice to get back out on the rough stuff. Thanks again to you or whoever let me borrow the light. If I am not working late I will be up for next week but I won't be able to let you know until the day again.
