Just to share with you about the great knobbley ride I had in QE Country Park this morning in the snow, managed 90 mins of lots of hills in a white out bliss, no cars, no people, pure silence. Even tho my gears froze up and the tyres wouldn't grip in places because the snow was too deep causing me to walk and the pace was slow my average heart rate was fairly high by the end of the ride, proving it was a decent workout. I enjoyed every minute of my solitude with nature and it reminded me why I enjoy riding my bike Very Happy ....and to top it all the hot chocolate, Egg & Bacon Baguette from the cafe was marvellous. pig pig

affraid Pictures look great but looks like they've started tipping old bikes in QE park. You want to be careful you could get a nasty cut if you bumped into one of those rusty old things!.......affraid

I think you've got the 2009 Nana Award in the bag mate so try not to make it a posthumous one in all that snow. clown As you only managed silver in the man-versus-car competition don't think you're going to get gold in the man-versus-****-off-big-patch-of-ice competition. Unless you think you're Jane Torvill and/or Christopher Dean. Shocked

Well, this was discussed in depth at the Christmas Drinks Run. Rich gets mentioned in dispatches for the shortest 100 mile sportive, as do I for a reason that escapes me (the Guinness kicked in at that point, but I'm sure that Rich/Steve will remember). Chuck was third with his bringing of a 'cross bike on a hilly club run and Rob Slidel was second for ringing Rich to ask him where he was (he, like the rest of us, was already mid-way across the Solent on the IoW ferry). Rich would probably got the Nana for 2008 for bringing the whole club run down on ice at the foot of Pigeon House Lane.

Hey Tone,
Sorry to hear you are under the weather. It would be good to see you on the club rides again. Are you up for it?
Mind you though we are waiting for a break in the weather to do some serious spring training. I reckon 2 more weeks of foul weather and then weve broke the back of it and we can get started. Dont quote me on that though.

See you soon mate.

Rich

Don't be fooled by mountain goat's "I've not been out on my bike since October" speech. 'Im and 'is bike are so light he probably doesn't leave tyre tracks in the snow! Shocked
